At the end of January 2024, Palmtech, continuing its activities with the community of Salinas do Sacavém, offered another stage of professional training. This time, the theme was biomat production.
Biodegradable geotextile blankets (or biomats) are key to projects to recover degraded areas created by Palmtech. In addition to being ecologically sustainable, the artisanal production of these geotextile blankets brings income to the community.
Professors Quésia Duarte and Fernando Bezerra coordinated the activity. With the support of the Palmtech team, participants learned techniques for producing biomats.
The biomat production workshop is part of the area recovery project in the Bacanga State Park, which is financed by Banco do Nordeste.
